Machesney Park, IL – In response to Governor JB Pritzker signing the FY2024 Budget, Rep. Cabello released the following statement:
“By signing the budget, that excludes the voices of 40 Republican Representatives and the communities we represent, Governor Pritzker has disregarded the needs of hardworking taxpayers in Illinois. With the stroke of a pen, he and Illinois House Democrats have massively raised taxes, embraced wasteful spending, and granted inappropriate pay raises for Springfield Politicians.
“The Governor and Rockford Area Democrats like Representatives Dave Vella and Maurice West, who voted for their own pay raises, need to know that the practice of playing politics with people’s lives and hard-earned money must end. Our citizens deserve better than a budget filled with fiscal irresponsibility and government mismanagement – on top of it being prepared in secrecy and signed in haste.
“I pledge to continue to spend my time as a State Representative challenging this type of financial recklessness and advocating for a budget that truly serves all of Illinois’ citizens.”
