Freeport, IL – Assistant Minority Leader and 90th District State Representative John M. Cabello is recognizing local dairy farmers and celebrating June as National Dairy Month. This acknowledgement serves as an opportunity to highlight the importance of the dairy industry in Illinois, and particularly in Stephenson County, the state’s second-largest milk producing county.
“Stephenson County is known for its extensive dairy production that plays an integral role not only in our local economy but our state as a whole,” praised Cabello. “As we celebrate Dairy Month, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of our dairy farmers, their families, and all those who play a part in bringing dairy products from farm to table.”
The dairy industry is a significant part of the agricultural sector in Illinois. Dairy farmers contribute to the livelihoods of thousands of residents, support local businesses, and provide nutritious products for families statewide.
Cabello added, “I got the chance to tour a Boone County dairy farm this month and I was fully impressed by the resilience and dedication of our dairy farmers. Their work is a testament to the importance of supporting local agriculture and recognizing the substantial value it brings to our communities.”
For Dairy Month in June, Representative Cabello encourages residents to show their support by enjoying dairy products, visiting a local dairy farm, or simply expressing their gratitude to a dairy farmer. He stresses that the significance of these seemingly small actions cannot be overstated.
