ILLINOIS – Changes to the Social Security full retirement age will reach 67 for those born in 1960 or later in 2025. Retirees in Illinois, where over 1.7 million residents collected benefits in 2023, can still claim partial benefits starting at age 62 or delay benefits beyond full retirement age to increase payments. Additionally, a modest cost-of-living adjustment of 2.5%, based on inflation, will enhance benefits by about $50 monthly starting in January.
