SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative John M. Cabello (R-Machesney Park) was reappointed by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie to continue serving as an Assistant House Republican Leader in the 104th General Assembly.
“I am honored to continue fighting on behalf of Illinoisans who have been let down by decades of failed Democrat policies,” said Cabello. “Illinois continues to lead the nation in all the wrong categories—high taxes, corruption, crime, outmigration, and job loss. This is not the future our families and businesses deserve. As Assistant Minority Leader, I am determined to work with other lawmakers to reverse Illinois’ downward spiral and fight for the commonsense, Republican solutions that will put our state back on track.”
Rep. Cabello is currently a 29 year veteran of the Rockford Police Department and is one of only three current state lawmakers also serving as an active duty law enforcement officer. During his time in state government, Cabello has been a strong advocate for reducing crime, defending law enforcement, cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful government spending, and holding corrupt politicians accountable.
“Representative Cabello’s experience as a law enforcement officer adds great value to our caucus,” said Leader Tony McCombie. “His insight on public safety, advocacy for reform, and commitment to standing up for everyday Illinoisans make him a key asset on my leadership team as we fight to hold Democrats accountable.”
