Rep. Cabello Reacts to Governor Pritzker’s Failing Administration; Renews Calls for Resignation

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative John M. Cabello (R-Machesney Park) released the following statement regarding Governor J.B Pritzker’s 2025 State of the State Address given Wednesday, February 19th, 2025.

“Today, Governor Pritzker demonstrated just how out of touch he is with the issues facing Illinois residents and taxpayers,” said Rep. Cabello. “He spent his entire address defending the sanctuary state policies that have made our communities less safe, the financial mismanagement that has led to the largest budget in state history, and the failing economy driving thousands of individuals, families, and job creators to other more tax and business friendly markets.”

Cabello continued: “It’s clear that we have a multi-billionaire Governor who is more interested in running or President and repackaging his failures as successes than fixing the problems facing our exploited residents. Sadly, no amount of clever marketing or personal wealth can save him from the reality that his policies are running this state into the ground. He should resign effective immediately.”

Representative Cabello, who filed legislation to create an Illinois Department of Government Efficiency, proposed the idea as one alternative solution to the problems caused by Pritzker’s failing administration.

“Illinois residents deserve a government that is transparent, efficient, and accountable,” said Cabello. “That’s why I introduced legislation to create the Illinois Department of Government Efficiency – because unlike Governor Pritzker, I believe we should be cutting waste and prioritizing the needs of working families – rather than growing bureaucracy and reckless spending.”
