Firearm Deer Hunting Season Opens in Illinois

ILLINOIS – Illinois’ firearm deer hunting season begins today and lasts through Sunday November 24, with a second round scheduled for December 7-10.

Hunters are reminded to wear the required blaze orange or pink gear and follow all hunting regulation which include permit and license requirements. Safety should be all deer hunters top priority, especially with hunting hours in place from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.

Deer harvested in counties monitored for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) must be reported the same day. Testing is encouraged in affected areas to help manage this easily spread disease.

Hunters and outdoorsmen are encouraged to spend this hunting season responsibly and help maintain a balanced deer population. For more information on hunting rules and permits, visit the Illinois Department of Natural Resources website.
