“The tragic murder of Emma Shafer is yet another heartbreaking reminder of the dangers tied to failed open border policies. When violent criminals are allowed to slip through the cracks of a broken system, innocent lives are put at risk. Illinois families deserve safety and security—not policies that put them in harm’s way. I will continue to fight for stronger border enforcement and common-sense measures to protect our communities.”
