Springfield, Illinois – Assistant Minority Leader and State Representative John M. Cabello is celebrating the passage of House Bill 3902 which he is a chief co-sponsor of. The bill now heads to the Governor’s Desk where it awaits his signature.
If signed by the Governor, House Bill 3902 will allow law enforcement agencies in Illinois to utilize drone technology to enhance security at public events with a large number of attendees.
“Over the course of the past few years, we have seen events that are supposed to be a time of community appreciation, relaxation, and celebration turn into national tragedies because of criminals with nothing to lose,” said Cabello.
“This is a quality piece of bi-partisan legislation that will make it easier for law enforcement officers to keep events with large crowds safe, and I am confident this bill will help law enforcement in preventing similar tragedies from taking place in communities across Illinois.”
The bill also includes numerous provisions that will protect the privacy of citizens from unwarranted and/or unintended surveillance.
